Brad HolmanThe Golden Boy of Asia
January 06 Southern IndiaI've been spending 2008 in Southern India. After New Years Eve in Bangkok, I flew to Chennai (Madras) for a stroll along the second largest beach in the world, before attending the dance festival in Mamallapuram. From there, I've come south to Pondicherry, an old French colony on the west coast of India. Here I am enjoying roaming the old colonial streets, and taking in the International Yoga Festival with its attendant spectical. From here, I will head south, then cross into Kerala for a month, up to Goa and fly to Bangkok out of Mumbai in the middle of February.
December 19 Christmas weekJune 19 I will miss you Mateo!Don't worry, when I get back from Canada in September, I will walk you till you drop! June 18 Canada BoundThe Korean travel industry is so opportunistic and corrupt. In addition to jacking up prices for holidays, they refuse to book anyone's flight fully, until they have ammased hundreds of names on their list. They then sell off the tickets to whoever will pay the most. I rarely deal with agents here. Today, I had a flight reservation that I had "booked" and confirmed mysteriously disappear after I had paid for it. I was then offerred a more expensive alternative ticket. Of course, as anyone looking to leave the country in two days, I had no choice but to accept their terms. As always in this backwards country, customer service is not a priority.
The good news is I AM GOING TO VANCOUVER in two days. A week later, I am heading to Toronto. I will be in Ontario until the end of August. June 11 Last days for the ExhibitMy fundraiser photo exhibit opened on May 19th. About 80-100 people came to the opening event and we managed to raise over a thousand dollars on a cash bar, jello shooters, and a donation box. The event benefitted E-Loom, a grassroots organization in Seoul which helps women transition from prostitution and sexual exploitation. More than a dozen photos were sold, and 100 percent of their value goes to E-Loom as well.
All in all, I was thrilled with the response to the event. Thanks to everyone at Cafe Gallery Mu and at R Global Net Korea, who sponsored the event.
